Question: Do I have to get undressed for massage therapy?

This is one of the most frequently asked question! You can wear shorts, underwear or nothing; it is totally up to you. You will feel secure and comfortable at all times because intimate areas are covered at all times, the only area which is uncovered just for a moment is the area or part of the body which the therapist is working on. For example: if the therapist is massaging the right leg durring a Swedish massage, the entire body is covered with sheet and towel except the leg, when the right leg is done the therapist covers the right leg and then uncovers the left leg.

Now, if you choose to receive the massage undressed, the Therapist will give you a few minutes by yourself in the massage room in order to give you time to undress, get on the table and cover yourself with a sheet

If you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the massage, you should inform the therapist immediately. As you get to know the therapist over repeated sessions, some of your preferences and your level of comfort may very well change.

Question: What type of lotion do you use?

There are so many companies that provide massage oil, but I chose BIOTONE Revitalizing Massage oil, Unscented to be used at Knead Massage, because according to my experience it has enough components in it to assist the therapist to give an even massage with out scrapes or sticking. In addition, the lotion is not sticky, which means that, right after the massage session you can put your clothes on and go and do whatever you need to do without taking a shower. To prevent any possible allergic reactions, or avoid a particular smell that someone may not like, this particular lotion is unscented. If you would like a particular lotion with scents, please feel free to request this, if not then the unscented Biotone massage oil will be used.

Question: Do you provide music?

Yes, the therapists generally bring several selections for you to choose from that they either play on their portable CD players or on your home stereo, depending on your preference. If you like, you may play your own music as well.

Question: Can I use my own music, lotion, etc?

Yes, of course. If you prefer a certain lotion/oil/etc, just feel free to tell the therapist and we will use it.

Question: How many days ahead should I call to book a session?

You can make appointment average 24 - 72 hours before of the day of the massage. In order to have your massage when you would like it, it is preferable for you to book it the earlier the better.

Question: Do you offer any discounts or incentives?

Yes, I do. Please check the PACKAGE PRICE section

Question: What is your cancellation policy?

If the massage session is cancelled within the same day of the massage, the total amount will normally be charged. If the massage session is cancelled the day before the massage, the 50% of the price will normally be charged. If the massage session is cancelled between 2 and 3 days before of the massage session, 25% of the price of the massage will normally be charged depending on what was set up.

Question: Can you massage me at my home or office?

Yes, we can. (Please see our Services Page)

Question: If I had a recent injury or surgery, is a massage still okay?

In some cases, massage may be indicated (advised), while in other conditions and circumstances, massage may be contraindicated (not permissible). Please call and we’ll discuss your circumstances privately.

Question: Can I eat right before my massage?

It is my preference that you refrain from eating a real big meal right before our session, however this is something that is fairly common.

Top

Question: Are your massage sessions customizable?

Yes, All massages are adaptable to the individual, you just need to discuss with your therapist.

Top

Question: Is the information you obtain about me in our sessions confidential?

Yes, absolutely.

Question: How long are sessions and how much does it cost?

Question: Are there contraindications for massage therapy?

Answer: Not many. Massage should obviously not be done over the site of any recent tissue damage, such as a broken bone, a bruise, or a wound. Care should be taken with deep work on persons with fragile or brittle bones. Areas of internal organic problems should be avoided. If there is any doubt, a physician should be consulted first and X-rays done. Be sure to tell the therapist beforehand about any recent health problems, injuries or surgeries. But on the whole, massage therapy is extremely safe.

Question: Can I bring someone with me to the session?

Answer: If having someone present during the session makes you more comfortable then by all means have someone with you.

Top

Question: Does massage therapy hurt?

Answer: General relaxation massage should not hurt. If it does, it means the therapist has found a problem area, and you should tell the therapist. Most energy-related therapies are painless. Any therapy that directly addresses myofascial (soft-tissue or muscular) problems (such as neuromuscular, deep tissue, trigger point, or similar therapies) may be painful when treating problem areas. The pain comes not from the work itself but from the problem in the tissue. In any case, the patient needs to let the therapist know if the pain is more than he or she cares to tolerate. And many patients describe the therapeutic work as "hurting good," meaning that they feel the difference between constructive and destructive pain.

Question: What if I don't like my therapist?

Prior to booking your therapeutic massage you can request either a male or female therapist. If you are unhappy with your treatment we request that you advise us immediately and specifically why you were unhappy with the treatment. All Therapists are screened and are licensed prior to being hired by Knead Massage, and we provide therapeutic massage only.
